Manager of Engineering and Operations

As a locally owned utility, Heartland REMC is rooted in the communities we serve.
Heartland REMC serves Wabash, Wells, Huntington, part of southwest Allen, and fringe areas of Whitley, Grant, and Adams counties.
Heartland distributes electricity to over 15,000 members through a network of 2,300
miles of power line.
While the directors are responsible for guiding the cooperative as it evolves, the employees of Heartland REMC ensure that our members have safe and reliable electric power.
Heartland REMC is looking for a Manager of Engineering and Operations that can deliver an effective line construction and maintenance program for our members at a reasonable cost, an effective engineering program that produces quality electrical design, and an effective line clearance program that results in fewer outages.
The Manager of Engineering and Operations will maintain a safe and supportive working environment for all personnel in the department.
The ideal candidate embodies exceptional leadership, possessing a flair for strategic project planning and risk management.

Essential Duties and
Responsibilities:
Develops annual work plan and budget (operating, capital and construction) and recommends to the CEO for approval.
Is responsible for the development of written procedures for the engineering and operations department, in conjunction with other departments, to ensure a smooth workflow.
Also, sees that they are revised as necessary to meet changing operating needs.
Studies current trends and research in relevant areas to keep abreast of current trends and to implement new concepts where applicable.
Develops a comprehensive departmental strategy and makes recommendations to the CEO who will make appropriate recommendations to the board of directors.
Monitors volume and quality of work being accomplished by subordinates through monthly reporting, personal observations, etc.
Will report directly to the Chief Executive Officer A high school graduate or equivalent (GED) combined with relevant experience.
Bachelor's degree is preferred.
Practical application of skills in a related type of organization for a minimum of ten (10) years is required.
Should possess a minimum of five (5) years of supervisory experience.
Experience in utility plant construction is required.
Must possess a thorough understanding and working knowledge of all aspects of building and maintaining an electrical distribution system, including both overhead and underground lines.
Must also be knowledgeable of RUS specifications, National Electric Code, National Electric Safety Code, OSHA Rules and RegulationsWhat is in it for you:

The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
